The Declaration of Independence contends that "whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive" of individual life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, " it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it". Under what circumstances, if any, would you personally exercise this right? Specifically, what conditions would have to prevail for you to act to alter or abolish your form of government? What exactly would you do in order to achieve this?

One of the most important things about democracies across the world is that they are by the people, for the people and of the people. This would mean that when people enter into a social contract, they would sacrifice some of their rights in order for the government to protect themselves and their properties. Thus, every individual has the natural right to life, liberty and property which should be protected by the elected government. However, in the event of the government violate this contract by introducing laws and policies, people have the right to alter or abolish it through their voting rights. Although individuals could express their dissatisfaction through their freedom of speech, overthrowing or altering the government would only be possible if majority people feel that way. They could practice this right during the elections.
