Analyze the industry environment of Walmart in 2018
Walmart stores were founded in 1962 as retail stores along,Target and Kmart.Walmart was store which sold 35% of all pet food,24% of toothpaste in US and was considered to be largest stocker of jewellery,groceries etc.The company got much success due to its environment and management.
Let us Discuss about the Environment of Walmart in 2018-:
1)Sociological Factors-Walmart was charged with paying salaries to employees much low as $8.23,the figure conclude to even less than Federal Poverty line.Walmart also charged with its employees of working overtime without getting paid.And by 2018 Walmart has 90% of women staff but only 15% in the top management positions.
2)Ethical Factors-Walmart is very big company and employed thousands of people and every single decision taken by the company impact directly to the supplier and even make them bankrupt and results for many to loose their jobs.
3)International Market-Walmart did not perform well in international market as compared to the US and have many major rivals like Metro,Tesco.
Carrefour its major competitor played major strategies in 2018 and using their high experience in the market and The company Carrefour was charged for blocking the wal-mart supply lines and Played "everyday low price" where the employees of company get prices from Walmart and keep low from them and show price comparisons to their customers.
4)Reputation with Customers-Walmart offered very low prices for goods and it was beneficial for people of rural areas specially and by the end of 2018,Walmart was selling almost every popular brand available in the market in low prices and Assured customers for one place shopping place.
5)Investments-In 2018,Walmart the world largest retailer made a very huge investment in India in Flipkart which is very popular online retailer there and invested $16 billion for 77% company shares.
