The residents and nurses are really affected by patient and their health in a health care setting on regular basis.Residents,however, encounter challenges to cope with it. Education is one way of preparing residents to face these challenges. The aim of this study is to present the coping strategies used by residents in dealing with patient. In psychological circle the coping skill is referred as the management of the "stress of everyday living".Coping strategies are ways of thinking and behaving adopted to reduce the difficulty experienced. There are two types of coping strategies. That is problem focused coping and emotion focused coping.Problem focused coping strategy would be used to remove a given stimulus, an emotion focused coping strategy would be used to change one’s response to that stimulus. Utilizing coping strategies may help residents to avoid the depersonalization that may arise as a result of exposure to stress.
