What is generativity? Is it possible to develop a sense of generativity without raising your own children? Please list and explain at least two ways this might be possible. Do you think these could be just as rewarding or satisfying?

• Generativity is all about making a mark through your contributions to the wellbeing of the society and yes,it could be done by not raising your children.When we reach a stage in life,where we feel like moving beyond our career and doing something for the society,thats generativity.We all experience a stage,where we feel accomplished personally and professionall,we are financially secure,have all the luxuries,have a good family life,so now we need a new purpose in life.We want to do something for others and for the greater good.
• This could be done through mentoring or teaching others,like sharing your experiences with the younger generation who might want to join the same career as yours,volunteering to work for the social causes you are interested in,building social institutions like schools,hospitals etc. to help the needy people etc.These initiative not only provide a new sense of purpose in your middle age but also helps in bringing about a positive change in the society and leaving something good behind for the next generation.
• When you put a smile on another's face through your efforts,its definitely going to be rewarding.Making a difference in someone's life and the society as a whole,would not only be rewarding but also keep your existence meaningful till you are alive and not look back at your life with regret in your last years.
