What would be the consequences (positive or negative) of one world language? How does this relate to the Biblical account of the Tower of Babel?
It was the dream of many emperors to rule the whole world under one roof. One world language is not possible as the world has many cultures and traditions with their own languages that connects them with their culture. No one was able to achieve it. When we look at the Babel tower background, it was God who separated them when everyone in the world came together after the great food. It's disaster that keeps people together but it's God's who divide and rule. This explanation is available in almost all the religions. In my point of view, one language doesn't literally refers to the spoken language but agreeing to do or prevent something together. Thus building the Babel tower after the floods disaster makes more sense. This one language is to protect humanity from any other disasters just as today all the countries come together to fight global warming, poverty, terrorism etc.
