Nessus is a widely used Vulnerability assessment scanner tool by over more than 50 percent of the Fortune 500 companies. The tool has a wide range of scanning capabilities.

Nessus was initially a free and open-source tool. Now it is a commercial tool with a 7-day free trial to try and evaluate the product. The scanner tool is cross-platform and can be installed on Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris, etc.

The tool supports scalability. We can try a single user license and move to other variations of the product to support an increase in need. Tenable.io supports tool capabilities in the cloud.
