There are number of factors which will responsible for a person to maintain the norms from his or her culture of origin

  1. Ethnocentrism - Ethnocentrism is an approach when the individuals see other cultures from their own cultural perspective .This often results in a bias .In the above as a person can develop a bias and decide to stick to their own cultural values
  2. Lack of cultural competence - An individual having less cultural competence makes him or her less open to other cultures and it will also help in maintaining their own culture .
  3. Local similar cultural groups- Being part of local similar cultural groups in other countries helps the individuals to preserve their norms and values .
  4. Embracing your own culture - An individual embracing their own culture helps them to preserve the values and norms .
  5. Upbringing and mindset .- coming from an orthodox culture also a factor in practicing the norms and values of your own culture in different countries .For example individuals find to difficult to adapt to more open cultures and the stick to their own cultural values .
