Anonymous means someone whose name is not known or not made public: The Alcoholic anonymous group was founded with the same intention of keeping the identity a secret. It is founded in the year 1935 by Dr. Bob Smith and Bill Wilson in Akron, Ohio. It is a self-help group it is a worldwide organization and a nonprofit organization its members work towards helping its members to come out of the habit of alcoholism and remain sober,
These groups definitely play an important role for those who want to come out of the addiction, If timely help, support and a promise of anonymity is provided people would love to take help of these groups.
Alcoholic anonymous plays an important role in many especially on two fronts 1. Personal level and 2.Public level.
On a personal level, it is by keeping all members from identification as alcoholics. It gives a comfort level and safeguards their identification.
On the public level, Alcoholic Anonymous stresses the equality in the Fellowship of all members; it advises the members to avoid using modern means like press and internet or other media technologies to achieve recognition, power, or personal gain.

It helps people ta a great extent because most alcoholics are ashamed of themselves. It promises personal anonymity and the founders themselves are recovering members themselves they know the stigma of the society and fearful of their exposure, It provides a protected sheet to the newcomers who take their help if there was no privacy no one would ever come. With time and confidence, the stigma becomes less that is essential for trust and openness, As he experiences are shared it becomes easier for the person to stop drinking, anonymity serves as the spiritual foundation in helping to recover from drinking.
These types of groups indeed help people recover from their habit of drinking, and those who are desirous to leave their habit under these group with the help of fellow members indeed come out of their habits but to remain sober depends upon their willpower and desire self-help is the best help, a support, and confidence of remaining anonymous in the transition period help a person to such an extent that he can be a source of inspiration to others.
