1. What do you believe is the one dimension of employee compensation that triggers more complaints than any other? Why?
2. Describe a set of circumstances under which you might legitimately consider disciplinary action for a chronic complainer.
3. Under what circumstances would you consider that one employee asking another for a date could constitute sexual harassment?
1. Annual Incentive payout/ yearly pay equity is the dimension that triggers more complaints/controversies in comparison to other dimensions, mainly because:
(i) It is driven through supervisor ratings, which can although be quantified, yet it depends on human perception and remains a source of debate.
(ii) There is a perception that exists amidst the old employees that new employees are paid better.
2. The following set of circumstances are liable to draw legimate disciplinary action against a chronic complainer:
(i) If the complainant harasses other employees to pursue his/her complaint.
(ii) Refusing to perform job duties to pursue a complaint.
(iii) Inappropriately shouting at the manager without a reasonable justification
3. Circumstances that could constitute a case of sexual harassment in case of-
(i) Making repeated requests to date the person, despite that person refusing the request first time itself.
(ii) Making impolite/improper/unwelcome advances while asking the person to date .
(iii) Making a promise of nepotism in exchange of a date.
(iv) Threatening the employee to date or face unreasonable/unfavourable consequences.
