Read the case given below thoroughly and answer the questions.
Sara has been working at a handicrafts factory for about two years. One day she had a fight with her production supervisor Nasser who is responsible for 50 workers under his supervision. Nasser was under stress and found it very difficult to control quality with this big number of workers. Sara made a mistake while packaging the products so he shouted at her in front of others. Then she told that she has more working hours, more than one supervisor gave her work at the same time and they are not able to focus. She was angry blaming him for no proper guidance. The supervisor thought to fire Sara for this behavior of being rude to him. But the company has a policy of avoiding unemployment claims, so he cannot fire her for one cause. Nasser cut Sara’s working hours and reduce it gradually form 40 hours a week. Then cut it to 30 hours for a couple of weeks tell 15 hours or less after that, hoping she will give up and quit by herself. He was criticizing her most of the time and wrote things she didn’t do in her report to push her to hate the work and leave the job. Finally, she quit the job. Other workers felt bad about this action purposely made by the supervisor. They were not happy in the work and they hate Nasser. The performance went down and the quality was affected. Workers want to complain but were afraid of him. Omar who is the production head found a letter in his office. One worker wrote how Nasser was bad with them and not motivating them to work with positive attitudes because he was aggressive. He conveyed the same complaints Sara told to the supervisor so that Omar do something to solve the issues.
Questions:
a) Identify the managerial level of Nasser and Omar. Explain by your own any three functions of each of them in detail.
b) Do Do you think Nasser deserves this managerial position? Why?
c) Explain if the production department mentioned in the case has good organization structure principles or not.

Answer-:

a) The managerial level of Nasser is of production supervisor and that of Omar is production head.That means that Omar 's managerial position is above Nasser's. The reason why is that a production supervisor is the one who oversees a team of employees or a specific operation while a production head has a more active role in directing operations and creating objectives for employees and under a production head there can be one or many supervisor.

Three functions of each of them are as follows-:

1) Sara - She makes handicrafts in the handicraft factory. She is directly under her supervisors so she has to follow their orders. She has to do her job sincerely and properly.

2) Nasser - He has to guide and train the workers under him properly. He has to enforce policies or plans according to the production head . He has to assist the workers by offering personal growth opportunities to them.

3) Omar - He has to make policies or plans for the factory . He has to check whether the production is going smoothly or not. He has to supervise the production supervisors under him to ensure whether they are doing their job properly or not.

b) No,I don't think Nasser deserve this managerial position because he was unable to manage 50 workers under him and he failed to train them and guide them in a certain way. He was aggressive and impatient with the workers and did not listen to problems of workers and made a personal agenda of making a worker quit on her own which was a very unprofessional thing to do . If he had invested his time on guiding and training Sara rather than making her quit she would have become an asset to the factory .

c) No , this production department mentioned in the case does not have good organization structure principles because first of all production supervisor was unable to manage 50 workers under him , workers under him were not comfortable working under his supervision, did not train or guide his working staff properly, did not listen to their problems they were facing in production . Secondly ,Omar the production head was unable to do his part as well as he failed to see problem which was happening in his production . So if the production supervisor and production head had done their part more sincerely and properly it could have been a good organisation.
