A Guideline for Project I
1. Collect a data set with two related variables. You can create your own data set or can download a data set from a web or to use data sets that posted on project organizer.
2. Calculate descriptive statistics, i.e., mean, median and standard deviation, 3
. Estimate a regression equation for the two variables.
4. Submit a written report
1. Collect a data set with two related variables. You can create your own data set or can download a data set from a web or to use data sets that posted on project organizer.
Data set:
Resting | After Exercise |
59 | 68.2 |
64 | 70.7 |
65.3 | 86.3 |
67.4 | 78.8 |
67.7 | 79.4 |
68.6 | 72.8 |
69.2 | 81.4 |
69.2 | 79.4 |
69.4 | 82.6 |
69.4 | 74.1 |
2. Calculate descriptive statistics, i.e., mean, median and standard deviation
As per the aboe data we have to create descriptive statitistics and find mena, median and mode.
1. bring the data set in to excel sheet.
2. Go to data tab --> choose data analysis --> select descriptive statistics.
3. if data analysis is not available in your system then go to add-ins option and choose excel add-ins and finally select the data analysis to enable the options
4. Now the result populate mean, median and mode for the two related variables.
3. Estimate a regression equation for the two variables.
1. Create a scatterplot chart for two related variables and add trendline
2. Right click the trendline and add format trendline, choose linear as trend
3. This trend line will add regression equation and give the results
4. Regression equation is Y = a+bx
5. So the trendline will give you the regression equation as well
6. on the chart regression equation would be added as per the trend line.
4. Submit a written report
Descriptive statistics are used to describe the basic features of the data in a study. They provide simple summaries about the sample and the measures.
The Regression equation of a linear (straight line) relationship between two variables, Y and X, is
Y = a+bX, that you can see in the above example.
