Solutions

Expert Solution

The first five things that I recommend doing in order to address the poor performance issue and to fix the underlying problems to improve performance will include ;

1) Establishing effective communication:

It is essential to be as transparent as possible with the human resources of the organization who might not be actively participating or contributing to adjust and accommodate to the change due to fears of unknown, insecurities or lack of confidence. It is important to communicate effectively with the personnel in order to clear their doubts, confusions and fears regarding the change so as to gain their support for effective implementation of change. This will in turn help to overcome resistence.

.

3) Setting clear performance targets :

I will ensure that certain strict standards are provided to the employees to accomplish targets in the desired manner in order to ensure that they work in accordance to the guidelines and put efforts in achieving them to improve the performance. Setting targets will help to improve performance because they will help in guiding the employees towards a particular direction and motive to be diligent to accomplish these goals.

3) Implementing a training strategy :

It would be best if the organization is provided with a short comprehensive training program where they will be imparted all the essential knowledge , skills and information about the strategic change so as to instill confidence in them and to make them prepared for adjusting their routine , methods or work schedules as accordance to the changes. Training will help them to more easily accommodate to these changes.

.

4) Overcoming resistance and securing support :

To improve the performance, an equal and enough contribution and participation from each employee is expected so as to ensure that the resistance faced from too management or at lower level is eliminated through proper incentives or assurance regarding no threat to their power, job , security or position. Overcoming resistance will increase participation and efforts thus resulting in better performance,

.

5) Sustaining Changes :

It is important to ensure that changes introduced are sustained through establishing strict supervision, and guidance so as to ensure that the employees are not going back to their older methods and techniques. It is important to sustain change for ensuring improved performance and better results.

.

.

These five things have been chosen as most critical and foremost one's ,, because they will help to identify and address the root causes which most likely act as sources of poor performance as associated with resistance towards chage, lack of knowledge or confidence, lack of communication resulting in doubts which contribute towards stress, anxiety and disinterest of employees towards strategic changes. Moreover these five steps help in solving various problems, mitigate the risks and improve performance through encouraging the human resources and facilitating change.
