It's important to have a compelling vision and a comprehensive plan. Explain, What does this mean and how does it apply to managing?
Yes, there is no doubt in the fact that it is very important for an organisation to have a compelling vision and a plan to achieve it. A vision shows the mind-set of the company, it tells a lot of about future plans and where the company does ultimately wants to reach in next few years because it directly conveys the stability and progress chart of the organisation. It gives a lot of confidence to the employees as well as external stakeholders that a company would prosper in future and the ultimate goal i.e. the vision is meaningful and achievable.
Also there has to be a robust plan to achieve the short term and long term goals. The plan should be SMART i.e. relevant, achievable, traceable, measurable and also time based because then only the execution can be smooth and as expected. It apply to managing because managers need to lay out the plans to achieve the shared objective. They need to rally their teams to work as per the plan and get things done so their involvement becomes necessary to achieve the short and long term goals.
