When taking into consideration a patient with bipolar disorder, it is an imperative to take into account not only their psychiatric, but also their medical comorbidities that seem to be attached with them.
Although, due to its complex nature, it is tough to diagnose, there needs to be a club of talk therapy with medical therapy in order to assuage the stigma and discomfort that comes along with a psychiatric diagnosis.
A patient who has been diagnosed with depression, needs to be put under special care as well, and there needs to be identifiers of suicidal tendencies which can permeate. Vigilance in care is an imperative.
2. The four patterns of Carpers knowing are
Personal, refers to what we understand about ourselves through introspection and self actualization. Within nursing, it is crucial to know self, in order to integrate and channelize the therepeutic relationships. Example, knowing how you deal with the pain of another person.
Empirical, this is highly important as it is necessary to dwell in facts and general therories in order to have a hold on nursing and helping the patient. Example, knowing what therapy or assistance to provide in a certain crisis. Application of theoretical knowledge.
Ethical, it is vital to have a moral compass that helps in differentiation of right and wrong and helping one understand how to conduct oneself while with a patient and nursing. Example, knowing when to stop a certain pain medication despite the insistence of the patient.
Aesthetic, this is where you explore further about things you know that help you better at your profession and knowing. Example, after exposure to client, knowing how to deal with certain kinds of quirks and behaviors and circumvent certain therapies with efficacy.
3. The primary goalof therepeutic relationship is to help assuage and alleviate the discomforts that are caused to a client due to certain disorders. It's aim is to help the patient receive care in order to function at their optimum being.
