Has the U.S. ceded too much of its national sovereignty by joining the WTO?

Solutions

Expert Solution

this information is not totally correct to say because joining WTO oviously has some beneficial as well as adverse effects as countries have to bind by the rules and sometimes those rules may not favor few countries in which case the policy or rule is treated with accusation. the accusation against WTO in soverignity case is that creating a supranational court system that has the power to economically sanction countries to force them to comply with its rulings, the WTO has essentially replaced national governments with an unelected, unaccountable corporate-backed government , which may not be true for all countries or as overall.

But what about the truth, the sanctions are not imposed by the WTO, but by the country winning the case. The sanctions imposed were imposed voluntarily by the elected national government of the United States, within WTO rules and procedures. The case was not initiated by the WTO but by the US and Canadian governments.
