Explain how ISIS restored the historic Islamic community in the minds of Salafists.
Salafists are Sunni conservative sect, they believe in the purging of Islam by removing the influence of western political and cultural ideologies, and the various forms of deviations in Islam itself. They believe that Islam should return to its original sunni form and be based purely on Shariat laws. Any law or influence other than these is a threat to Islam. They believe they should return to the form of Islam that was there during the times of Prophet Mehmud and in the first three centuries. ISIS has taken this notion of purging Islam from the influence of western ideologies and deviations found in Islam to take up violence as a means to achieve this aim. Thus, ISIS had restored the historic Islamic community in the minds of Salafists to take up Jihadi movement for purification of Islam, and to propagate Islam in the world in its most original form that they believe to be as the Sunni sect.
