PMS stands for Property Management system. This system is used by hotels to manage their day-to-day activities like reservation management, inventory management, payment processing, check-in-in and check-out processes, customer profile management, etc.
The key features of PMS required for hotels to operate more effectively and efficiently are as follows:
Reservation and Booking management- The system should have the facility to make customer reservations and bookings.
Bill creation and payment processing- The system should be able to generate bills and process customer and vendor payments.
Customer data management- The system should be able to store customer data and utilize it for promotions, offers, etc.
Housekeeping management - The system should be able to manage details of housekeeping like the status of room cleaning, assignment of housekeeping staff, etc.
Inventory management- The system should have the facility of saving and updating inventory related data.
Channel management- The system should facilitate reservations and bookings through the hotel websites, third-party websites, travel agents, etc.
The other systems that PMS should be seamlessly connected for better communication and management from the operator's perspective are as follows:
