While studying management, we often become so focused with undertaking management to efficiently get the work done through others to earn money, that in the process, we tend to neglect the importance of management even in non-profit organizations. In fact, the work is more complicated and sensitive pertaining to such Organizations because these Organizations do not run in the market to make profits. They have certain social objectives to concentrate upon; all of which requires funds.
Certain topics in this regard that has been liked by me the most are:
I feel to me, the most relevant topic would be the Fundraising options because some options described in this topic is relevant to both, For-Profit and Non-Profit organizations such as Peer-To-Peer Fundraising and Crowdfunding. Other funding activities are typical to only Non-Profit organizations such as Donation Kiosks, Charity Auctions, etc. To me, understanding the financial part of the organization shall make me get a better insight of how an Organization able to run with limited finances. This shall in turn help me gain a knowledge about wisely dealing with funds in any Organizational set up. Besides, since we take a lot from the society, it is time for us to give them back as well in some significant manner. Working with Non-profit organizations, even on a part-time basis, shall avail me the knowledge of fundraising in a better manner and I can show my work in the Resume to gain a competitive advantage in terms of possessing a distinct experience in this field, when applying in a job world.
However, I feel, the topic of legal policies was not dealt with, properly although it has a direct bearing on the Fund-raising activity. I wished I could have got more clarity on this topic.
