Timmy is a 6-year-old male who presents with a 1week history of an annular lesion on his left forearm. The lesion has raised edges and a slightly scaly cleared center. You diagnose him with ringworm (tinea corporis).
1. What is your plan of care for the treatment of tinea corporis?
Tinea corporis is a superficial dermatophyte infection characterized by inflammatory or noninflammatory lesions on the skin region other than scalp,palms,groin and sole.
CAUSES:
Tinea corporis caused by a tiny fungus.This type of organism live on superficial surface and they can induce rash and infection.
PLAN OF CARE FOR THE TREATMENT :
1.Medical management
For limited disease use topical terbinafine for 6 weeks.
For more extensive terbinafine 250-500 mg/day for 2-6 weeks and itraconazole 100-200 mg/day for 2-4 weeks.
