Presume you are the quality director in a skilled nursing facility. You've been asked to summarize and report the results of a study done by the nursing staff. The purpose is to determine how quickly nurses respond to resident call lights. Data were gathered during the day shift on 10 randomly selected days. Each day an observer noted the response time (in minutes) for 5 call light occurrences. Data is below:

The above quality indicator gives a clear picture as the average call bell response time by nurse is 2.8 minutes for 10days .In some cases call bell response time soared to 5minutes .We all have to make sure that our call bell response time should be reduced as it can contribute to patient safety ,theirby improving our customore care .Nurses worked on day 9 responded late to all call bells ,making an average response time 3.75 minutes.Hope this performance indicator will give as view on our areas of improvement in attending the call bell.
