A solo practice is described by its name, in this kind of practice a solo physician can practices alone without partners. In this practice typically have a limited patient base and small staff are present. In the 20th century most doctors having solo practices because of the the recent discovered mediacl technology, increased life expectancy- more older adults, government legislation and HMO.

Solo practices are usually characterized by a small staff and typically have a limited patient base. This smaller size and the autonomy of being the only physician gives the advantage of being able to design, grow, and develop the practice as you'd like relative to other practice settings.

Advantages: physician retains all assets, autonomy, hires other physicians to provide assistance

Disadvantages: physician pays all expenses, responsible for all liability.
