The three stages of prevention have
been explained as follows:-
- Primary Prevention
- This kind of prevention is about preventing the disease or the
disorder even before its appearance. This is usually done by
preventing the individual from getting exposed to the risks which
might pose a problem.
- For example. Vaccination for a disease
- Secondary
Prevention
- This kind of prevention is about preventing the disease after
the appearance of the disease or the disorder. This is usually done
by slowing down the pace at which the disease or the problem
rises.
- For example. Regular tests to detect the stage of the disease
and appropriate medicine.
- Tertiary
Prevention
- This kind of prevention is done so as to mitigate the risk that
is usually associated with a long term disorder or a problem. This
is more about the management and the mitigation of the consequences
that are attached with the problem.
- For example. Support groups for the community of people who
suffer from a disease so as to reduce the psychological
impact.
