1)the mass m in terms of fuel in a racket t minutes after it is lanched is given by m= -t^3-140t+2000
During what period of time is the mass of the fuel greater than 500 tones?

2) a certain type of candle is packaged in boxes that measure 36 cm by 15cm by 8cm. The candle that produced the above packaging has now designed shorter candles.A smaller box will be created by decreasing each dimesions of the longer box by the same length. The volume of the smaller will be at the most 93cm^3. What are the max dimesions of the smaller box? Draw a diagram

Solutions

Expert Solution

If we put 7.59 in t^3+140t-1500=0 will give (7.59)^3+ 140(7.59)-1500 =0

there is by mistake you write 93 cm^3 instead of 930cm^3.

If actually there is 93 cm^3 exist, then by decreasing max 7cm by each dimension get::::: 29cm*8cm*1cm gives volume 232cm^3 which is not equal to 93 cm^3.

otherwise we have to decrease each dimension by 7.5604cm to get volume 93cm^3 in such a way ::::::: 93cm^3 = 28.4396cm* 7.4396cm* 0.4396cm . But this not possible to size of one side of candle with 0.4396cm because it is so small.

So, there will be 930 cm^3 of volume in question.

2. A spacecraft of initial mass M (including the mass of the fuel) is at rest in the solar system, preparing to disembark on a grand mission to Alpha Centauri. Its engines work by combining matter and antimatter and directing the hard gamma rays that result out the spacecraft’s rear. The engines fire for a brief time, bringing the ship’s speed to v = 0.95 with respect to the solar system. a) What is the rest mass m of the...

[Q5-Home ⋆⋆] Find the period T of a weight of mass m that oscillates from a spring of constant k on an inclined plane of angle φ with no friction. Support your arguments by clearly showing your work. Hint: It is VERY important to understand, based on the same methodology developed in this section that a spring that oscillates in the vertical, horizontal, or at any angle, will ONLY depend on the mass and the spring’s constant.
