Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of developing a learning
plan for an exceptional learner. Include the perspective of an
educator as well as a family member.
An exceptional learner is someone who acquires skills relatively quicker than most students. He can also be referred to as an ideal student and exhibits behavior which causes him to be a quick and informed learner respectively.
Such people are vital for growth in an economy as they have large contributions to the society. Exceptional learners can largely help in increased returns for a country since the level of innovation which they can produce is much higher than most other sectors. This innovation leads to long term success to people as it allows for easier development to take place.
Therefore, in my opinion the concept of devising a learning plan for exceptional learner is extremely important. The following points highlight the Advantages and Disadvantages of the same.
The key advantages of devising a learning plan for an exceptional learner, revolve around the person being able to maximize his knowledge. It largely helps people by providing them provide a structured approach to the learning which takes place.
This allows them to learn one thing at a time covering all elements of a course. And hence acquiring full knowledge of the topic respectively.
On part of the educator it allows for a well-planned course to be evenly distributed and taught to the learner. For family members it means that they won’t have to spend time in dealing with questions that arise which would be taken care off by the educator themselves
Disadvantages:-
The disadvantage of a learning plan is that an exceptional learner would then be bound to learn using a plan than innovating and going beyond the learning curve. It is a well debated topic that organized learning plans reduce creativity in learning and focus more on things that need to be taught rather than giving a clear indication of the use and allowing for creativity to take its seat.
For an educator though it is easier to deliver on a learning plan, it questions the credibility and innovativeness for the learner. On the part of the family member, this would mean increased costs.
