If you have the last name of A-I, this is your
prompt:
What are the measures of center or measures of central tendency?
And what do they tell us?
Central tendency is defined as “the statistical measure that identifies a single value as representative of an entire distribution.
It aims to provide an accurate description of the entire data. It is the single value that is most typical/representative of the collected data. The term “number crunching” is used to illustrate this aspect of data description. The mean, median and mode are the three commonly used measures of central tendency.
MEAN
Mean is the most commonly used measure of central tendency. There are different types of mean, viz. arithmetic mean, weighted mean, geometric mean (GM) and harmonic mean (HM).
MEDIAN
The median is the middle value/score we get in a distribution after the values are arranged in ascending or descending order. It is the midpoint of a distribution The median divides the sets of data in half (there are 50% of observations on either side of the median value).
MODE
The value that occurs most commonly in a distribution is known as the mode. It is the most frequent value in our distribution
