In what ways does happiness appear to be perceived by American culture with suburban and urban areas?
There is marked difference between
the kind of life that is led by an average American in the city and
the kind of life that an average American leads in the suburbs.
There have been a number of parameters that separate the city life
from the suburban life, majority of which circle around the quality
of life led by an individual. the quality of life led by people was
surveyed across various aspects to identify the true meaning of
happiness. The suburbs offer a more peaceful living to its
residents. The number of people living there are much lesser than
the cities, as a result of which there is much lower crime rate and
population density. The perception of social integration within the
suburbs is much higher, as a result of which there is a greater
sense of belongingness. There is an increased emphasis on the idea
of community, with neighbourhood satisfaction being kept as a top
priority. As a result of this, the overall psychological health of
an individual is much better. Good mental health and a stress free
life, contributes to the overall well being of a person.
the social ties enjoyed by people within their neighbourhood has
been seen to be directly correlated with the local activities and
people participation. The Crux of the good life in suburbs, is the
sense of community, that people in the cities do not enjoy.
