9. (10) Phalloidin is a toxin produced by the death cap mushroom, which binds to actin subunits thereby disrupting actin function. Circle all that would be affected if exposed, and explain how they would be affected.
Cell wall composition in Candida albicans Inversion in Volvox
Cytoplasmic streaming in Amoeba proteus Cilia movement in Stentor
Frustule formation in Cyclotella Pellicle structure in Euglena gracilis
Ans:-1. Cytoplasmic streaming in Amoeba proteus, 2.Inversion in volvox
explanation:-Cytoplasmic streaming is movement of cytoplasm. in amoeba movement depends on formation of Pseudopodia which is leg like structure filled with cytoplasm. this Pseudopodia form when cytoplasm move and hence movement of amoeba depends on pseudopodia. cytoplasm of amoeba contains actin which is responsible for movement of cytoplasm.therefore phalloidin will affect cytoplasmic streaming in amoeba proteus.
inversion of volvox required actin and myosin. hence phalloidin as an actin inhibitor would affect inversion in volvox. volvox inversion is inversion of embryo turn inside out through pore called phialopore which bring flagella to its outer surface.
cell wall of candida albicans contains Polysaccharide and does not contain actin hence would not get affected by phalloidin.
frustule of cytostella made up of silica hence phalloidin would not have any effect on it.
cilia in stentor and pellicle structure in euglena gracilis contains micro tubulin in its structure and contain tubulin protein hence would not get affected by
