Solutions

Expert Solution

The raised security threat level in New Zealand in response to the Mar 18 shooting spree in Mosques is an example of perieived threats. The perception is the administration is of increased activity of Terrorist gorups and extremists and they are on the prowl to kill general public , specifically public from a specific community. The knee jerk reaction from administration is the increase in the security threat level to the highest.

This is the standard reaction of the administartion of all countries that suffered from any act of violence and terror.

The perceived threat follows the statndard model of raection to such incidents and have a heightened arrangement of security which is often excessive considering the real threat of such situation.

Th real threat is actually the threat of getting hit by a fringe extermist or terrorist group or some rogue elements disenchanted with Governement and hell bent to get some publicity. The real threat is the probability of getting such attacks on a global average basis. The real threat in NeZealand is much less a it is a Peaceful country without much regional , ethic or religious conflicts. However, the perceived threat much exceeded the real threat and the Administration has taken the counter measures based on the perceived threat.
