Expert Solution

13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States, 14th amendment granted citizenship to everyone born in the United States and 15th amendment prevented the state and federal government from prohibiting voting rights based on race, color, religion etc. Thus, all these three amendments were added as the consequence of the civil war that was fought for the sole purpose of abolishing slavery. The 1876 presidential election was very controversial and contentious in which the Democrats agreed to make Hayes who belonged to Republican in return to the withdrawal of the federal troops from the South which also marked the end of the reconstruction era in 1877. It was considered the success of the civil war in which the South finally agreed to the abolishment of slavery legally, although the society took more time to digest the fact.
