Lebanon is a country of diversity ,for centuries Shia, Sunni ,Christian,jews and other sets have lived here peacefully side by side but it were a fact that western powers saw a benefit in separating them and making Lebanon proxy for their power struggle.15 years of civil war made the capital Beirut,full of chaos.One after other many massacre took place and it was the civilians who suffered. In 1982 Israel invaded North Lebanon and helped Christians in butchering the refugees Palestinian's.The reason behind the invasion of Israel is that in 1967 many palestinians crossed the border and settled in Lebanon and used it as a base to attack back at Israel.But a terror group Hezbullah( backed by Iran) is formed in Lebanon and is succeeded in throwing back the Israel in 2000.The structure of government in Lebanon is based on confessionalism in which the president is to be a Christian ,the prime Minister is to be a Sunni Muslim, and the speaker will be a Shia Muslim.
As the control of a country is in many hands,many external powers wish to have their influence in government.Christians are backed by USA,Shia muslims are backed by Iran and sunni muslims are backed by Saudi Arabia.

After effect of the war is that the external powers get succeeded in bringing the conflicts between the diverse groups. Recently the prime Minister of Lebanon Saad hariri announced his resignation sitting in Saudi Arabia,but took it back as soon as he returned to Lebanon.He wanted to counter terror group 'Hezbulla' which is backed by Iran. He himself have support of Saudi Arabia and USA.All these can led to another civil war,in which the civilians will suffer.
