Principles of Diet Planning:

There are Six basic principles of Diet Planning, which are described as follow:

1. Adequacy: Adequacy means providing adequat or suffient amount of nutrients of all categories, eg iron, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fats etc. which are important to maintain good health of a person.

2. Balance: Eat variety of food to ensure the intake of all type of nutrients. For eg in excess amount of milk and milk products are taken and citrus fruits and vegetables are not taken, it may let to imbalance in nutrition.

3. Nutrition Density: it is a ratio or measure of nutient that is provided by food in comparision to enery in calories. Food with good nutrition density is the one which has more nutrition value than Calories.For example, soft drinks and Potato chips have high calories but gives very less amount of Nutrition, Hence there Nutition Density is bad.

4. Energy Control: This principle represents that calories intake must be taken care to maintain weight and Good health. To do so, Food with High Nutrition density and lesser calories must be included in the diet, however taking lesser calaries is also nt considered good for health.

5. Moderation: This principle is especially aplicable to Food rich in fats and sugars, while planning Diet these food must be included in moderation rather than eliminating it completely.

6. Variety: It is one of the most important principle of Diet planning beacuse it is not possible for any person to eat same food every day even if it is healthy, so ifvarietyof food is choosen from a food group of a particular nutrient  to plan a diet, it will be easy for a person to follow the diet chart.

Dietary Guidlines of American

Dietary Guidlines of America are as follow:

1. Aim for Fitness: This can be done by making small fitness goals and goals of consuming healthy diet.

2. Build Health Base: Choose healthy food , it basically represent base of Food pyramid must be priority in choosing food.

3. Choose sensibly, This means balance between calories and nutrition must be kept. Taking care of health is more important than taking care taste buds.

Food Guide Pyramid:

Food Guide pyramid is made to guide people about various food groups and variety of food in each group. It also guides the serving size or the amount of intake a person should have of each group to remain healthy every day.The Base of the Food guide Pyramid shows items that we should eat more and as we move on the top of the pyramid it represent the items or group of items that must be consumed in lesser amount or have lesser nutrition Density.

Relation between Diet planning principles and American dietary Principles and Food Guide Pyramid.

Diet planning principles and American dietary Principles and Food guide Pyramid are very much in coorelation. American Dietary guidlines basically are made as per dietary guidlines but modified in a way that people can understand it and impliment it easily in their daliy life. For example, The First principle is Aim for Fitness, This can only be acheived if a person eats wit adequacy , maintan balance in all nutrients eat variet of food and maintain moderation in food, next Principle guides to use Food as per Food pyramid, It is to be noted that this Food pyramid is just a pictoral reprentation of Diet Principles or a implimntation of diet principles in daily life.
