Expert Solution

The internet has become a popular medium that hiring managers use for recruiting employees. Online job sites ensure that managers are able to reach out to a large number of qualified individuals quickly and relatively cost-effectively. However, there is also a chance of coming across several irrelevant candidate profiles as the application process for candidates too is very convenient. Therefore when resumes begin to pour in, a hiring manager must meticulously screen each one.

The first process of screening should involve immediately rejecting candidates who lack the proper educational or professional background. This would bring down the number of prospective candidates to a manageable size. Once the manager has identified the most appropriate resumes, he or she may arrange brief telephonic interviews for those applicants, following which a face to face Interview maybe arranged. During the interview, the hiring manager can ask the candidate questions specific to their background and how it relates to the job at hand. Psychometric assessments are also tool that can be used in to supplement the recruitment process. These assessments help assess specific abilities, aptitudes and interests of candidates.
