Post a written response (approx. 250 words) in response to the following questions. When should the policy process be reevaluated and at what point should a policy be terminated? Can you identify any previous policies that were terminated and what impact the termination of the policy may have had on the organization or community as a whole?
Solution:
Policies are appropriate only until a certain period of time. When the scope changes after a few years it becomes necessary to change the policies as well to match the status quo. This is why every policy should be revisited for evaluation and its relevance to the current period of time. The general evaluation of policies it done at fixed intervals that differ from department to department and depending on the severity of the policies, they are more frequently evaluated. One can understand the need for a policy change if there are various issues that are occurring and a change in general policy is desired to help people from suffering the issues.
There have been various policies that have been terminated because of their low relevance or these policies not meeting the required standards by the organization. these are the likely scenarios when the policies will be terminated. When the policies are terminated it may change the dynamics of the organization and there will be significant time to come up with new policies that the organization will find hard to adjust to and even may experience some resistance while its implementation. Thus, there will be effects of a new policy coming in and only till a certain time these effects are felt and then the organizational environment gets used to the policies that are devised.
Hence, this is how we should monitor our policies and regulalry evaluate them for assesing a need for change in the policy.
