does medical malpractice have a significant impact on healthcare costs and the reputation of individual physicians and facilities
Obviously ,the medical malpractice have significant impact on health care costs and the reputation of individual physicians and facilities. The medical mal practice is "improper, unskilled,or negligent treatment of a patient by a physician or any health care professional .The growth of medical malpractice liability costs has the potential to affect the delivery of health care in the countries along two dimensions. If growth in malpractice payments results in premiums for physicians ,these premiums will not affect the size and composition of the pysicians work force.moreover ,it may deter marginal entry, increase marginal exit and reduce the rural physician work force.Increase use of many treatments in response to malpractice liability at the state level among every countries, although there may be increase in some screening procedures such as mammography and unnecessary lab tests.
Inaddition to that, malpractice may even affect the cost of healthcare .for an instance, many Americans cannot afford adequate medical care.Physicians and other health care providers have long argued that malpractice claims are the leading cause of escalating health care costs. It is very common now a days.,so that client recieve settlements of huge amounts to hospital and they are forced to have a higher insurance premium and docor's fees.
Another concern is doctors practicing "defensive medicine"-un necessarly ordering for laboratory tests, scans and medical treatments or procedures, that are not necessary as per the condition of the patients.Furthermore,in ICU settings, eventhough the patient is died ,still the patient would keep in ventilator without coveying the relatives that, the patient is no more now.So the hospital will take additional charges for till date, when they proclaim the patient's death.
In contrast ,the law is against all these malpractices or negligence.Like wise, the effect on malpractice on doctors and other health care professionals is substantial.Being involved in a legal suit rarely involves only the insurance companies and the lawyers resolving the matter. Moreover,it is a great cause of stress in a health care professsional's life.It may make professionals question their abilities, which can in turn affect their job performance.
