Cancer:

It is the abnormal multiplication and invasion of cell in the human body. It can occur in any part of the body and destroy normal cells and causes severe damage to the body.

Hallmarks of cancer:

It means the characters or traits that help to transform a normal cell to cancer cell.

According to Douglas Hanahan and Robert Weinberg there are 10 hallmarks of cancer

1. Self suffieciency in growth signals: grow without proper growth signals that are necessary for cell growth

2. In sensitivity to antigrowth signals: cells become resistant to antigrowth signals so abnormal multiplication continues

3.Evading Apoptosis: bypass the mechanism of death of damaged cells, resulting in increase number of abnormal cells.

4. Limitless replicate potential: no control on cell division resulting in huge number of cancer cells formation

5. Sustained angiogenesis: they stimulate production of new blood vessels to supply cancer cells

6. Tissue invasion and metastasis: cancer cells spread to surrounding tissue by local infiltration and distant spread through blood, lymphs etc

7. Deregulated metabolism: cancer cells took energy from abnormal metabolic process

8. Evading the immune system: destroy the bodys normal immune mechanism

9. Genome instability: cause multiple mutation in cells

10. Inflammation: cause local inflammation to induce angiogenesis and infiltration.

Cisplatin & 5-Fluorouracil: theses are anticancerous drugs which act by interfering the DNA replication and kills the cancer cells. So these two drugs target on the thrid hallmark of cancer: Evading Apoptosis
