Expert Solution

Zip files have a small size compared to actual file size, they take up less storage space. The zip files when stored in the memory take up less space.

Windows gives you an option to zip and unzip the files from the operating system.

To zip the files:
Just select the files that you want to zip, then right-click and select option compressed zip. A new zip file will be created at the same location.

To unzip the file.

Just select the zipped file and right-click there will be an option to extract. This will extract to the same location.

To zip the files into a folder, Just select multiple files and right-click to get an option zip to a folder. Just name the folder and the zipped folder will be at the same location.

We zip the files to compress the size of the files, the zip also allows saving multiple files under the same name and less memory space.

The importance of zipping of files in digital forensics as the size of the data is too large and to compress the file size we zip the data, this makes it easier to share the data. The digital forensics contain reports of large size, zipping give you an option to lower the size of the data to store or share the data.
