Change management practices due to change sponsorship versus the agency of change theory

The emerging sponsorship has caused major changes in management practices. The management has become more depend on sponsors for fulfilling their expectations. Sponsors provide leaders for guiding work, focus on benefits, keep projects in alignment with organization work and also optimize the cost for health care projects. This had lead to major changes in management policies.

The three critical elements of culture and diversity in health care include;

1. Consciousness of vibrant inherent when customs interact.

2. Provision of cultural knowledge at institutions.

3. Healthy cultural diversity being reflected in service delivery.

Leadership approaches essential to successfully implement changes

The transformational and servant related models can be effectively used to implement changes in interpersonal, organizational and cultural dimensions. For changes in organizational system, the leader should provide flexibility of adaptation so that the rising systems and processes can be implemented.

For changes at cultural level, the leader should be able to motivate his people who are from varied cultural diversity, for commitment towards a common purpose.

For differentiation of a leader at global level in respect of power, knowledge he must be able to develop multicultural efficiency in his system, the uniqueness of individual amongst cultural differences should be appreciated and he should be able to manage the paradox.

Relate the global leadership style differences and similarities within the constructs of transformational leadership. Discuss at least three critical elements of culture and diversity on the modern health care organization. Also, provide a table or list of cultural attributes to be cognizant of.

Healthcare no longer occurs in our backyards. The day of the physician who can appeal to the community spirit is slowly dissipating along with the comfort of the personal care of a physician who has been trusting for many years. Patients have many choices and act on those choices to not only get the best care but the most for their dollar. As a leader, globally we must first think of healthcare disparities. The system we have is not working for everyone who is seeking care. The next critical element is changes in population. As our population construct changes so does the needs of healthcare and lastly chronic disease is taking a higher toll on our population. This can be anything from increased obesity, diabetes and heart disease. This is by no means an inclusive list but is substantial when related to the entire population of that may impact the United States health care system. With this issue of poor healthcare insurance, the patient often has to depend on Emergency Services to be their primary care which is often expensive and subsequently cannot be paid by the patient.

As a global community, we have a wide and diverse cultural array of populations in our county. The idea that we have such wide disparities in our own country is frightened and can be often compared to a third World County. Children in our own country go to bed hunger and lack even basic medical care. This can be for many reasons. One is that they belong to a group of people call the working poor. These people work and receive enough pay to not qualify for aid, be it food or medical care but cannot afford insurance or the types of food that may be nutritious.

With the every changing population, the shift to a higher baby boomer numbers is apparent in census revisions. This is due to the high number of people born within the years of 1946 and 1964. They are now retiring at a higher rate each year and leaving qualified positions. This may be leaving gaps in the workforce. Shortages have been extensively investigated in all areas of business. Qualified employees who need training can be put on the short track to fill jobs such as computer related. Other more difficult positions are those that must be filled by required degrees. These are those such as higher education and top management. While working on strategies to promote education, some institutions are back filling positions by encouraging baby boomers to stay in the work place. These positions can be flexible hours, less strenuous jobs and wage incentives. Other baby boomers are still working because their initial retirement plan does not offer the ability to be financially independent.

With baby boomers living longer, this also is taking a toll on the healthcare system. With more people seeking treatments and less taking care of the patients, there will be a gap in care. Baby boomers also may expect to be living a more active life style with more joint repairs and rehabilitation therapies. It is hard to conceive what will happen in healthcare when the greatest numbers of baby boomers saturate the healthcare system and there are little resources to take care of all the needs.

One of the biggest issues of the century is the chronic diseases. In a country where we should be conquering these demographic risks, we seem to be worse. First of all, obesity is rampant. The sad thing is that obesity has doubled in preschoolers in recent decades. Instead of any improvement, a downward trend has been occurring since 2008 in children from two to four in 40 states.

Another chronic issue is the continuation of cigarette smoking causing a host of chronic conditions such a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cardiovascular disease. Heart disease is the number one killer of all Americans and is preventable

Finally, categorize global leadership differences according to a leader's use of power, technology, and knowledge management. Provide at least two leadership approaches for implementing change.

A leader in the healthcare population must remain very flexible over the next several decades. The system is very fluid and to remain viable, the leader has to change before the health system is in trouble or behind. It is important to look at the forecast of future predictions and make decisions with the help of expert leaders that will have a positive impact on the organization. Power is an important tool not to be taken lightly. Your staff will follow and be respectful if a leader does not use power to be overbearing or disrespectful. At times, power moves have to be made to save the company from disaster and that might mean having to terminate employment. It is almost impossible to go anywhere without having technology in place. The important thing is to have good technology and qualified people in place to operate the systems without having constant disruptions. This can cause a lot of delays and duplications. Knowledge management is having the right people in place to provide the type of care necessary to bring patients to your facility that will cause growth and financial solvency. Looking ahead at what may be important operations for the future is always one of the best ways to predict success.

It is also the responsibility of the leader to make sure that all of the people that they are responsible are educated in the mission of the institution and especially in the cultural mores that are most prevalent in the area where they work. A provider should know that when there is doubt that they should seek to understand before making any assumptions about the care of a client or patient.
