Explain how you would investigate an HIV drug resistant strain in an HIV infected patient.
The human immunodeficiency viruses are the specific two species of retrovirus that infect humans and they cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome in humans which is a Condition in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life threatening condition to occur
HIV resistant strain means an individual infected with a disease and begins the course of treatment with the already limited drug options , that can cause a problems later if they develop any kind of additional resistance. It can occur when an individual has HIV that is replicating but the individual is also taking a particular antiretroviral medication. HIV can specifically mutate around that medications and This will cause in HIV being resistant to the medications now become non effective
Multiple research studies show that the HIV positive population with some specific form of drug resistance were found to be 77.8 % and in country like South Korea estimated that fourty nine % of their HIV positive population had multi drug resistant strains of HIV and almost ten % had multi class resistant strains.
It specifically developed when people do not specifically adhere to the treatment plan of the antiviral medication .Missing doses of HIV medicines can reduce their effectiveness and increase the possibility of occurance of drug resistance Which will makes certain drugs lose their effectiveness. If a specific medication was missed by the individual then go ahead and take the medication as soon as and take the next dose at usuall scheduled time.
HIV treatment starts after the occurance of blood test that measures the viral load. If the tratment regimen is effective then it will control the HIV in the body b to the point that the virus is virtually no longer undetectable in the body.
WHO recommended that countries which monitor their quality of treatment programmes and take specific actions as required as soon as failure is detected is increasing which is a good sign to reduce development of resistance to Mediction .increasing HIV drug resistance trends could lead to more infectious and deaths.
Tacking HIV drug resistance will require an active involvement of many broad range of partner's for the process to be successful. A new five year Global Action Plan calls on all countries as well as the specific partners to join efforts to specifically prevent as well as .monitor, and respond to HIV drug resistance and protect on going progress towards the goal of Ending of the the AIDS epidemic by 2030 in the world .
