Behavioural system model is the theory developed by Dorothy Johnson . Her theory of nursing defines nursing as an external regulatory force which acts to preserve the Organization and integration of the patients behaviours at optimum level under those conditions in which behaviour costitutes a threat tonthe physical or social health or in which illness is found.It indicates each individual has patterned ; purposeful;repetitive ways of acting that comprises behavioural system specific to that individual .

The ultimate aim is to prevent patient from illness for which his behavioural system has 7 subsystems ; each of 7 has 3 functional requirements like

1)protection from noxious influences

2)provision for a nurturing environment

3) stimulation for growth

The nurse role is to maintain equilibrium.The steps made when the patient is not sleeping well.

1)It begins with assessment and diagnosis of patient

2) once diagnosis is made the nurses and other health workers develop nursing care plan like medications ; food and exercise

3)They are made to be in motion until a period of time

4) Finally ends with resolving patients from sleeplessness which indicates balance of all 7 subsystems attachment; dependency; ingestive ;eliminative;sexual ; aggressive ; Achievement; .
