in March of this year the University Hospitals Fertility Center in Ohio disclosed that more than 4,000 frozen eggs and embryos were lost due to a storage failure. Suppose you are in charge of delivering the news to devastated patients. What recommendations do you have for how to do this? What would you say? How would you feel about having to do this? What supports should be made available to the affected patients? Finally what are your thoughts on the way it was handled by University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Before breaking this sort of disastrous failure , collect all the accurate information regarding the situation and analyse whether the people who are going to get affected have the capacity to understand the information.Gather all the team members who contribute to the disaster and inform the benefitters. Disclose it to the person who is affected suitably in private room. Cell phones and mailing about the catatrophe may cause troubles and the person may not be informed clearly.
Now most of the population is facing infertility and hearing this news they would have lost their hope on raising a family. The cost of these facilities are much more high ,inspite of this the ohio foundation should have taken utmost care as this situation is very sensible and pace a great threat to the loss of upcoming generation of those families.
The ohio foundation said only 2000 eggs were lost and after some days said it was 4000 eggs which were lost.
I will personally feel frustrated and fear about the denial of those families , but when there is an action there will be an equal and oppsite reaction. In future many more technicians and facilities should be made and updated to stop this type of failure.
It was handed badly handled by the foundation hospital as thie information delivery was not accurate.
