Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution :-

To draw the lewis structure we calculate the total valence electrons present in the molecule and put them in the structure to complete the octets of the each element.

Total valence electrons is the sum of the valence electrons of the element atoms present in the molecule. For ion the if the ion is negative then equal number of electrons as the charge present are added to total valence electrons and if the ion is positive then same number of electrons as the charge are subtracted from the total valence electrons.

When the molecule possese symmetry then it becomes non polar because the dipole moment cancel outs.
