1.How does dependence on main economic activity lead to uneven economic development ? Specify examples for this. What kind of technological advances have caused this development to be less uneven? Why is that?
Dependence on one sector of economy or on one certain form of economic activity will lead to an uneven growth and development. Eg. If any country has a major dependence on agricultural sector then agriculture and allied activities will be promoted through public policies and government spendings, the emphasis on strengthening the secondary and tertiary sector would not be very high as a result agriculture would become the primary occupation with little investments and skill development in secondary or tertiary sector. Technology has a very important role to play in the path for development as it can cause the main economic activity to branch out and lead to development of other sectors. For e.g. if agriculture is the main economic activity then weather forecasting, research into advanced hybrid seeds, manufacturing farm implements, biochemicals to boost growth can help the primary sector to give a push for the growth of secondary and tertiary sector of the economy by means of economic linkages. Thus technology can make the path for development less uneven.
