Solutions

Expert Solution

SOLUTION:-

Question:5

Ans:- True

EXPLANATION:- Commensalism is a symbiosis where two species are present in such a relation that one species helps another and another species stay safe and unaffected, not harmed by another species.

For example, cattle egrets and cattle, where cattle egrets hunts the insects which are existed on cattles. So it helps the cattles while they are in grazing and cattle egrets are not harmed by cattle also.

Question:-6

Ans:- False

EXPLANATION:- Keystone species are most found in higher latitude area. Keystone species means which are crucial for the structure of the ecosystem. Without these species, ecosystem will be collapsed.

For example, star fish in the ocean of North America. The population of species were reduced dramatically with the absence of star fish.

Another example are bison, prairie dog. These species play the important role to make a strong ecosystem in higer latitude.

THE MAIN REASON of existing keystone mostly in higher latitude:- The lack of biodiversity is the main reason because low diversity affect the ecosystem because food chain is constructed on few species. If those species become absent , the ecosystem can be collapsed. So, those species are keystone.

But keystone species are less available in tropical area because of existing of high biodiversity in tropical rainforest.
