(Please justify your answer) A rare mutation generates a fourth blood group, C, where they are missing one additional carbohydrate from the glycoprotein, i.e. type I with one more sugar missing. What ABO blood groups could donate to this individual?
Blood group typing(determination) is very important. Mixing of two wrong blood groups cause death of individual.
Antigens and antibodies are major factors which differes the blood group. A blood group have antigen A and Antibody B. B blood group have atingen B and Antibody A. AB blood group have both antigen A and B and not have any antibodies. Blood group O have neither antigens but have both antibodies.
Glycoproteins are important in the formation of antigens.glycoproteins are those protein to which carbohydrate are attached. Antigen can be defined as oligosaccharide attached to specific glycoprotein on surface of RBC. Enzyme catalysis involves which helps in the production of antigens. Any alteration or change in carbohydrate component of glycoprotein result will affect the production of antigens so mutation result in formation of different blood group c which also contain different set of glycoproteins. This differ this blood group C from other ABO group.
