B)Standardized procedures
Explain what they are - use an example.
Standardized procedure refers to carrying an experiment or research based on the guidelines, policies and protocol prepared by an esteemed organization or system. For instance, a researcher wants to understand the impact or the effect of income on health. He carries out correlation, in order to understand the relationship between these two variables. Correlation refers to understanding the cause-and-effect relationship between two variables. In the above case, the researcher wants to understand the impact or the effect of income on health. Income in the independent variable and health is the dependent variable. The researcher computes the two-tailed test to measure whether the independent variable correlates positively or negatively with the dependent variable. A .05 level of significance proves that there is a positive correlation between income and health. As one's income increases, their health also increases, which suggests it is a positive correlation. Carrying out a research with standardized procedure refers to adhering to guidelines and protocol of the procedure. The researcher cannot make conclusions based on his assumptions. The conclusion must be empirically tested. It must be both valid and reliable.
