For thousands of years, up to the 20th century, the land of Palestine was a homeland for Christians, Jews, and Muslims. In the 20th century, the British got involved in the Middle East in several ways, culminating in the attempt to make Palestine a “homeland” for European Jews. Before you respond to this week’s discussion questions, visit and review the ProCon.org Website about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict at http://israelipalestinian.procon.org/. It is one of the most thorough, unbiased, and detailed sites on the subject.
There is growing diverse sets of solutions in ending the Isreal-palestine conflitc. One of the most probable solution seems to be a two-nation solution. Though there are conflicts in terms of borders, settlements, and jerusalem, if both the parties agree then this might be a reason to feel hopeful. Palestine also needs to be given a full determination of themseleves, while Isreal should not use power in asserting their nation. An mutual agreement in delimiting the power of Isreal and allowing palestinians to determine themselves can be one viable soloution.
Disputes are still going on in the region. There are news of attacks and rebels from both the parties. Palestanians accuse Isreali of killing civilians while Isreal justifies by claiming that palestanians are waging war. However, with intervention from international organizations and peace talks between the parties, a porbable future of the dispute will be around settling the ownership of Jerusalem and drawing the border line.
