In which ways are Marx and Engels ideas relevant for sociology today?
One of the most important things about Marx and Engels is that they brought they introduced the conflict theory which suggests that the society is in a perpetual conflict for the limited resources available where the social order is maintained not through consensus but through domination. This would mean that minority people would own most of the wealth thus would force majority people would struggle hard with the limited resources. However, it could also mean that the majority would dominate the minority people in terms of equal opportunities and equal treatment in the society. Secondly, they also introduced the concept that the owners of the production own more wealth and use the working class to produce more products for less pay which makes them rich while separating their employees from the production itself. It also laid the foundation for the modern communist and socialist economies around the world while creating an alternative to the aggressive capitalist economies.
