Ethics History Questions (Nazi Experiments, Nuremburg Trial, Tuskegee, Belmont Report)
(1) NAZI HUMAN EXPERIMENTATION:-
Nazi's used to humans as clinical
research trials, it was against medical ethics, these following
points provide details about these experiments:-
(a) National socialism and fascism- fascism characterised by their
rigorous antiliberal and anticommunist stance as well as by their
extreme nationalism and racism, their specific populist
ideology.
(b) Lack of informed consent and refusal:- humans subjected for
experiment have no rights to refuse and consent. They were
forcefully used as a slave.
(c) various clinical and medicinal trials.
(2) Nuremberg trials:- A series of trial held between 1945 and 1949
in which the Allies prosecuted German military leaders, political
officials, industrialists, and financiers for crimes they had
committed during world war ii.
(3) Tuskegee:- Study of syphilis in negros, was an infamous
clinical trials between 1932 and 1972 by the U.S public health
service.
-The purpose of this study was
to observe the natural progression of untreated syphilisin rural
African.
(4) Belmont report:- It is one of the leading report concerning
ethics and health care research.
-Its primary purpose is to protect subjects and
participants in clinical trials or research studies. - It consists
of 3 principles:--
beneficence
justice
respect for persons.
