  • Adolescence is a transitional stage in physical and psychological development that is generally confined to the period from puberty to legal adulthood. It is also a period of multiple transitions involving education, training, employment and unemployment, as well as transitions from one living circumstance to another.
  • Its a critical phase, either one gets through parental support or one doesnt and becomes deviant and may develop anxiety behaviours, delinquency, risky behaviour etc. I have seen teenagers in my family, who have gracefully crossed the phase without any confusion since they were able to get the support and understanding of their parents. And I have seen teenagers, who have shown complete confusion about their identities and career choices, who have shown impulsive behaviours and even engaged in risky behaviours like running away from home.
  • This phase is the most crucial phase of development,it sets the foundation of how you develop as an adult and requires utmost attention.Parents need to be extremely cautious when dealing with their teenage children, they need to understand and show empathy towards the changes that are happening in them and help them overcome it before it becomes chaotic.
