Expert Solution

  • I wouldnt consider New Deal to be a complete success though it manage to change many aspects of the government and the economy. The policies which were formulated within the New Deal aimed to eliminate the Great Depression,by reducing unemployment and raising investment in industry and the economy.FDR received both criticism and praise for the New Deal.Republicans criticized New Deal to be costly and waste of taxpayers money and some also believed that it didnt really was successful in ending the Great Depression, but nonetheless provided hope to the American people that things could get better in the long term
  • Some accomplishments and measures of the New Deal included:-The Emergency Banking Act which made the banking system of America more open and honest especially to provide help to homeless people.
  • There was the Agricultural Adjustment Act which helped to reduce prduction to end over production, increased prices and also provided for subsidies to the farmers. It was declared illegal by the Supreme Court but was replaced by the Soil Conservation Act which sought to provide subsidies to farmers who were trained in soil conservation and new farming methods.
  • New Deal also set up a national welfare system to provide social security benefits and pensions to the unemployed.
  • Though New Deal was not entirely successful, but without it the unemployed would have suffered more,it did manage to provide temporary work to millions of jobless people, which also helped America to become the super power it is now.
